The Allied States of America was a federal republic located in North America. Proclaiming itself to be a better, freer version of its predecessor, the United States of America, the ASA was, in actuality, a deeply corrupt corpocratic dictatorship masquerading as democracy. The ASA engaged in the revision of history, state-sanctioned embezzlement, and crimes against humanity, as its founders were the ones responsible for the September Attacks which destroyed twenty-three major American cities and killed millions.
Government[]
The Allied States was born in the aftermath of the September Attacks, which were orchestrated by the founders of the government as part of Project Red Bell. Initially limited in scope, the ASA reached détentes with the various remaining state governments, the last of which was the state of California. The ASA recognized the independence of the Republic of Texas, which had refused to rejoin either it or the remnants of the United States, based in Columbus, Ohio.
The Allied States proclaimed itself to be a federal republic, but the reality was that it was is a front for a corporatist cabal seeking to profit off of a war between the ASA and the United States. As such, the military had been deployed heavily across the country as part of ongoing martial law, aimed at both maintaining order and disarming the population, creating dependence on the state. This came in spite of the fact that many towns, such as Jericho, had essentially reasserted order and begun to govern themselves, conducting free and fair elections and distributing goods as needed.
Military []
The military of the Allied States was a mirror of its predecessor, however, it was implied that the ASA military was stronger than the US. The reality of the situation was much murkier, as the majority of the former United States' military was abroad at the time of the attacks, and the status of these troops, as well as their loyalties, was unknown. Following the revelation to Texas that the ASA was behind the September Attacks, Texas formally rejoined the United States, setting the stage for the Second American Civil War.
